Japanese food with easy to come by ingredients.

Where I live its hard to come by with foreign ingredients. Its very difficult and expensive to get things like nori, we dont even have japanese rice. What are some japanese foods I can make with easy to find ingredients? also what kind of rice can i use instead of japanese rice?
